Each country is dealing with its impact as per their capabilities and requirements, particularly by leading to a reduction of demand, financial stress, and disruptions to the power supply chain. Our analysis of daily data through mid-April shows that countries in full lockdown are experiencing an average 25% decline in energy demand per week. The share of coal in the electricity mix has consistently stayed under 70% for few months.
However, in the last two weeks the share of renewables rose again. The oil and gas industry doesn’t have the best reputation among other marketers; it’s known for being overly traditional and out-of-date.
